Rebecca Betensky

Dr. Rebecca A. Betensky is a distinguished biostatistician and currently serves as a professor and Chair of the Department of Biostatistic at School of Global Public Health, New York University (NYU). Prior to joining NYU, she was a professor of biostatistics at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, where she directed the Harvard Catalyst Biostatistics Program and the Data and Statistics Core for the Massachusetts Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center.

Dr. Betensky’s research focuses on developing methods for analyzing censored and truncated data, which are common in clinical studies. She has collaborated extensively on studies related to neurological diseases and has contributed significantly to the field of clinical trials, particularly in evaluating biomarkers and interpreting p-values. Throughout her career, Dr. Betensky has been recognized for her contributions to biostatistics. She was elected a Fellow of the American Statistical Association in 2003 and became an elected member of the International Statistical Institute in 2007. In 2005, she received the Mortimer Spiegelman Award from the American Public Health Association, honoring her outstanding achievements in public health statistics. Dr. Betensky currently serves as an Editor-in-Chief for Statistics in Medicine.
