Dr. Tianwen “Tony” Cai is a distinguished statistician, currently serving as the Daniel H. Silberberg Professor of Statistics and Vice Dean at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He earned his Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1996.
Throughout his career, Dr. Cai has made significant contributions to high-dimensional statistics, statistical machine learning, and large-scale inference. His work has been recognized with numerous accolades, including the COPSS President’s Award in 2008 and the Noether Distinguished Scholar Award from the American Statistical Association in 2023. In 2023, he was elected President of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics.
