Dr. Yu Shyr is a biostatistician and data scientist renowned for his contributions to cancer research and quantitative sciences. He holds the Harold L. Moses Chair in Cancer Research at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he serves as Chair of the Department of Biostatistics and Professor of Biostatistics, Biomedical Informatics, and Health Policy. Dr. Shyr is the founding director of both the Vanderbilt Center for Quantitative Sciences (CQS) and Vanderbilt Technologies for Advanced Genomics Analysis and Research Design (VANGARD).
Dr. Shyr earned his Ph.D. in biostatistics from the University of Michigan in 1994. His research focuses on developing statistical and bioinformatic methodologies for analyzing high-dimensional data, particularly in cancer biology and genomics. He has authored over 400 peer-reviewed publications and delivered more than 200 abstracts at professional meetings, underscoring his extensive contributions to the field.
