Dr. Ryan Tibshirani is a renowned statistician and machine learning expert, currently serving as a Professor in the Department of Statistics at the University of California, Berkeley. He completed his Ph.D. in Statistics at Stanford University in 2011, following a B.S. in Mathematics from the same institution in 2007.
Before joining UC Berkeley, Dr. Tibshirani was a faculty member at Carnegie Mellon University from 2011 to 2022, holding joint appointments in Statistics and Machine Learning. His research interests encompass high-dimensional statistics, nonparametric estimation, distribution-free inference, machine learning, convex optimization, and numerical methods. In recognition of his significant contributions to the field, Dr. Tibshirani received the COPSS President’s Award in 2023. Dr. Tibshirani is the Editor-in-Chief of Foundations and Trends in Machine Learning and Foundations and Trends in Statistics.
