Bingxin Zhao

Dr. Bingxin Zhao is an Assistant Professor of Statistics and Data Science at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (Penn), with a secondary appointment in the Department of Medicine at Perelman School of Medicine, Penn. He earned his Ph.D. in Biostatistics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2020. His interdisciplinary research advances statistical and computational methods for biomedical data, integrating multimodal sources like medical imaging, genomic profiles, and knowledge graphs, to explore organ‐level health dynamics such as brain–heart connections and mental health disorders. Dr. Zhao also develops platforms combining AI, software engineering, and cloud computing to automate analysis of large-scale scientific and genetic data.

Dr. Zhao has garnered recognition, including the 2025 IMS Tweedie New Researcher Award and the 2024 ICSA Outstanding Young Researcher Award, among others.
