Hongtu Zhu

Dr. Hongtu Zhu is a professor in the Department of Biostatistics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He earned his Ph.D. in statistics from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2000. Dr. Zhu’s expertise spans statistics, medical imaging, genetics, and computational neuroscience. His research focuses on developing statistical methods for analyzing complex medical imaging data, including MRI, DTI, EEG/MEG, fMRI, and PET scans.

Prior to joining UNC, he served as a faculty member at Columbia University and the New York State Psychiatric Institute, where he expanded his research to include neuroimaging data analysis. Dr. Zhu has significantly contributed to integrating medical imaging with genomics and analytical chemistry, advancing our understanding of various diseases. Dr. Zhu is the Editor of the Applications and Case Studies of Journal of the American Statistical Association.
